ATU Galway freshers football  played DCU Thursday evening in their semi final game

The  match defined by high intensity and fluctuating momentum,  fell just short in a hard-fought encounter against DCU on . Despite the  moments of individual brilliance, a clinical opening period from the opposition proved to be the difference. ATU  0 -11 to DCU 1 -12 .

Well done and great effort put in by all players and Managerment.

Discussion:

An early mis kick that didn't carry wide nor over the crossbar cost us dearly in Fresher Football semi final. The mis shot fell short and wasn't dealt with and ended up in our net . Lack of tracking runs and hunger for the ball in the middle third was also a factor. We had chances up front but didn't convert which was such a pity.

Micky Mulryan our Caltra man was excellent, as was Ciaran Mulhern first half. Cian Raftery was great with his surging runs but the outcome needed to be better at this level in support of the runner. Billy Ruane was a tower of strength in defense and Sean Gilmartin in goals handled and distributed massively all night. Olan Kelly has a big future as a traditional full back enforcer but we did mis Eoin Newell (Injured) in the middle third as an attacking option. Jake Maher the Offaly man always excels . We are dissappointed this morning as a great opportunity was missed but we are also so proud of this team who promised so much and delivered in spades with a league final appearance and a last four appearance in th CUP.

Grateful Lads Be proud

Onwards and Upwards for Sigerson next year .
