Competitions & Performance

Winter Nationals Series: The club’s first external competition saw our men’s team attain their first win at an elite tournament against Galway. This event was held in Sport Ireland National Indoor Arena. Coached by Kíla Curran Coleman and Abby Noonan
Participation & Membership

Total members – 92

Competitions entered – Winter national series

Mix of beginners vs. advanced athletes – Lots of new faces this year saw our beginner pool grow vastly. We have a number of international athletes in the club that provide excellent training and guidance to new members.

General demographic – A good mix of sexes from both Dublin road and Wellpark campuses.

Training Summary: We train twice a week. The first few weeks consisted of a beginner crash course for anybody new whilst a session for existing members happened simultaneously. As the weeks progressed we introduced various passing, attack/defence drills to improve everybody’s skills. We end each session with a match, getting everyone plenty of practice but also providing a fun session to maintain engagement of members.

Activities: We hold a bi-weekly social night so that all members can get to know each other and to create team bonding. We do dress up night for occasions such as Halloween and college Christmas where we give away small prizes for best dressed.

Goals for Semester 2We will be entering more external competitions in the second semester (most tag leagues don’t begin until Spring) such as the Galway Spring league and the National Tournament. We will also compete in Intervarsity's for the college. We have placed second for the last two years running, so the goal is to go for gold this year. We will be holding numerous fundraisers for the club.

We have new members that study graphic design that are eager to become involved in revamping our social media page.

Club Highlights: Two of our members, Kíla Curran Coleman and Tadgh Johnson, have been selected to represent Ireland in the Tag rugby World Cup in Australia next year.
