This year has been a period of exciting growth and progress for the club. We took part in one gala during the year, where three swimmers—Ciaran, Sarah and Ethan—represented us and were all happy with their performances. Looking ahead, the club hopes to host a fun gala with UOG in the new year, and preparations are already underway for the upcoming Varsities competition. Membership has seen a remarkable increase, rising from just six members last year to around eighteen this year. With this growth came the introduction of two training squads. The A squad now trains on Mondays and Tuesdays, while the B squad trains on Tuesdays, giving all swimmers a structure that supports their development. Training sessions continue to focus on a mix of sprint and endurance work, with Noel designing two tailored programmes to suit the needs and levels of everyone involved. As a club, we joined in on Coldvember too. It was great hanging out together outside of training and trying something new. As we move into Semester 2, the club has set a goal of bringing at least eight swimmers to Varsities, allowing us to enter full relay teams. Alongside competitive ambitions, there is also a strong desire to hold more social events to help members get to know each other and build a stronger sense of community within the club. This has also been a landmark year behind the scenes. For the first time, a dedicated committee has been formed to support the club’s growth, and thanks are due to Karen, Ethan, Hannah, Carolina and Emily for taking on these important roles. Another first for the club is the introduction of official leadership positions, with Karen serving as captain and Ethan as vice-captain. Their contributions, along with the enthusiasm of all members, have helped the club take meaningful steps forward and set a solid foundation for the year ahead.
