ATU Galway 7.28   /  Ulster University 1.09  ..

Fresher Hurlers are through to the Higher Education Final after a massive hard working win against Ulster University . The game was only 30 seconds old when scholarship student Conor Dolphin brilliantly rattled the net, and shortly after this Donach Fahy had a second goal on the board with a well taken shot that gave the Ulster keeper no chance. Points from Aaron McDonagh, Donal Farrelly both wing backs pushing up to get names on the score sheet. Huge performances on the night from Owen Long with his lazer type puck outs setting up attack after attack, he was supported well by his full back Evan Kennedy corner backs Mark Kilkenny who always covers so much ground and Dylan Corcoran the Kinvarra man proving a tenacious tackler and marker. Cillian Trayers at 6 was immaculate technically with precision passing and willing always to be a teamplayer carrying out management instruction to letter of the law. Mark Collins at 11 is having a fine year in ATU colours leading the attack and his fellow Carnmore colleague Niall Feeney also catches the eye and tactically carries out his duties so effectively. Pierce McGurk and Podge Gavin both wing forwards are so impressive in all games with McGurk so effective in the air a quality blessing to any forward. An outstanding display was had by Mathew Lyons with the Kiltormer man showing from start to finish.

Subs on the night also behaved so well when slotting in seamlessly to there roles - Fergus Deeley, Cillian Finnerty, Finn Beirne, Mathew Kerins all played there part .

Higher Education Final up next week against UL

Onwards and Upwards Men .
