ATU Galway 2.15 / MICL 0.22

A magical Night for hurling in Ballyloughane  as ATU Galway took MICL to a puck of the ball in a hard fought workman like performance . Our ATU men were solid at the back with individual players assigned big names on the opposition team and more than excelled in their man to man battles. Mark Grealish was solid in goals and the Carnmore man did fine throughout keeping a clean sheet. He was ably assisted by his wonderful defense with leaders in John Cooney at 6, Dylan Dunne at 5, Conor Cosgrove at 7. This half back line was  in terrific form all through with the Sarsfield's man Cooney also scoring a terrific point and his ariel prowess to the fore all night. Oisin Clune Feakle and Robert Meehan  Ballindereen in the corners were also top class. Rory Burke Oranmore-Maree at 3 and pulled all over the field by his direct marker Shane O Brien Kilmallock trying desperately to get some freedom but to no avail as Rory won out that battle convincingly. Kevin Cooney was busy and a thorn in the MICL defense, he hit two immaculate side line cuts laser like over the black spot and was missed in the second half when he had to be withdrawn at half time on medical advice. Darragh Donoghue hit his frees all night and Darren Shaughnessy and Nathan Earner combined brilliantly for Earner of Meelick Eyrecourt to score a brilliant goal, and the Loughrea man Shaughnessy scored his own goal also to push MICL to the very limit . Damian McGlynn Thomas' , Eoin Burke Coolderry battled hard with Oisin Lohan all night forcing his way through the opposition defense and physically competing all night.

A magical night for ATU Galway hurlers in a narrow defeat . Up next Jan 22nd we're away to UL in RD2 .
