College football started back in mid-September with over 80+ players attending trials & training sessions throughout the vetting process.

Once squads were selected for Senior & Fresher squads, Training continued for both squads on Mondays with Wednesday’s sessions used for social sessions (with some technical work)

We had 2 competitive teams in action with both a ‘Senior’ side & a ‘Freshers’ side both competing in national competitions.

Our seniors got off to a great start with a 3-1 win away to TUS Midwest in Limerick. That was quickly followed with a 1-2 defeat at home to a strong UoG side in the local ‘Derby’ and finished

The 1st phase of games with a disappointing 1-2 defeat away to TUS Midlands in Athlone. So while we were very competitive in all 3 games, only managed to get one win on the board.

This resulted in an away ¼ final to MTU Cork and this turned out to be a very one sided affair and despite us scoring 1st, lost our 1-7 in what was a game to forget.

Our Freshers on the other hand were on fire from the get-go and hit the ground running with a 7-2 win away to Maynooth, followed by a 2-1 win at home to MTU Kerry and finished the 1st phase

Of games with a comprehensive home win v TUS Midlands Athlone. This resulted in a home ¼ final V Dundalk IT which we won 4-1 and a tough semi-final away to UCC Cork in which we won

3-2 after extra time with a late/late winner from Alan Zimmerer.

The league final took place in Athlone on December 3rd v Collaiste Íde and in what was a great ‘cup final’ - goals from captain Alex Halpin & David Igbokwe gave us a 2-1 as we retained the

league title that we also won last season.

Training sessions consist of a combination of practices including technical and tactical drills, player development drills and practice games/phases of play and off course

some ‘fun’ games and drills to keep things light-hearted when appropriate. All training is provided by UEFA qualified coaches.

Goals for semester 2 are for ‘Cup’ competitions on both fronts for seniors and freshers. Both competitions should start late January 2026.

Seniors will be hoping to get a good run once again in the cup and the Freshers will be hoping to also retain this cup competition and once again achieve the ‘Double’
