The draws for the 2026 Electric Ireland Higher Education GAA Championships took place in Croke Park today.

Reigning Sigerson Cup champions, DCU, have been given a tricky opener away to 2024 champions, Ulster University.

When the two teams met in this year’s semi-final the Dubliners prevailed narrowly after extra-time.

“That’s as tough as it gets,” said DCU and Dublin footballer, Greg McEnaney after the draw. “We were lucky enough last year in the semi-final to get away from them in extra-time. That’s definitely as tough as it gets, in Jordanstown as well."

Last year’s beaten finalists, UCD, will have a home tie against ATU Galway while recently crowned Electric Ireland Higher Education Division One League champions, UL, are away to MTU Cork.

Reigning Fitzgibbon Cup champions, University of Limerick, who are gunning for a fourth title in five years will get an early test of their mettle in the group phase.

They’re in Group A along with DCU who they beat in this year’s final, and Maynooth University.

“They’re two strong teams,” said UL’s Killian Doyle after the draw. “We had DCU in the final last year and they’re a very strong team. I think that’s away as well so going up to DCU will be a tough place to go.

“If you top the group you get a home quarter-final which is key, so hopefully we can top the group.”

Group B is made up of local rivals UCC and MTU Cork along with Garda College, University of Galway, UCD, and TUS Midwest are in Group C, and 2024 champions Mary Immaculate College, SETU Waterford, and ATU Galway are in Group D.
