ATU Galway 2.15

Our Sigerson lads faced a tough challenge in Round 3 of the competition as they made the long journey to Sligo to take on a strong ATU Sligo side. Despite great effort and determination throughout, it wasn’t to be our day, with the final score reading 1-21 to 2-15 in favour of the hosts.

The ladsd the game brightly but found themselves chasing the contest after ATU Sligo built up an early lead. At half-time, the scoreboard read 1-11 to 1-5, leaving plenty of work to do in the second half. Credit to our team, they never dropped their heads and came out fighting after the break. A second-half goal gave us renewed energy, and there were some excellent passages of play as we pushed hard to close the gap.

However, ATU Sligo proved clinical in front of goal and managed to keep their advantage right through to the final whistle.

While the result didn’t go our way, there were plenty of positives to take from the performance — great effort, commitment, and teamwork all over the pitch. The lads showed real character, especially in the second half, and they can hold their heads high after a battling display away from home.

Hard luck to the players and management team, and safe travels home after a tough evening’s football. Attention now turns to regrouping and preparing for the next challenge.
Well done to all involved — the hard work continues. ???
