ATU Galway 1st had 6 wins, 2 loss.

The Lads played very very well and really enjoyed their weekend at the intervarsitys with all 1st team members walking away with Gold Medals for the second year in a row.

The 2nds were not so fortunate but gave it their all in all of their matches showing spirit and determination for improvement to come back like a storm for next year.

2 of our 1sts Oisin O’Conner and Christian Holmes faced each other in the  Top 8 of the Championship individuals with Christian Beating Oisin 4-2 putting him into the Semifinals of the Championship Singles tournament where he was knocked out by Ireland player Adam Hanlen captain of Maynooth 1st.

In the Trophy individuals 2nd team player Kyran Hamman got as far as the Quarter finals before being knocked out.

Sean McCarthy had to return home on the 2nd day allowing newcomer Ben Mayock to step in and fill his shoes on the third day in the trophy finals against Belfast Queens 1st and Maynooth 1st all the lads played an absolute blinder pulling out a win from a draw against Queens in the Semis with the winning frames coming from Christian Holmes and Oisin O’Conner who had a breaking Dish (finishing a frame from the break not missing a single ball) and absolutely steamrolling Maynooth in the final where the only 2 frames taken against ATU was by Ireland player Adam Hanlen.

Overall the weekend was an absolutely brilliant performance from the 2 teams who went and also a fantastic team building exercise for the lads from finding many many places to play pool together around Belfast City away from the competition and share a couple of meals as a team.

Amazing work Gents ???
